I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors.I have over 16 years of experience with assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and emotional, and behavioral difficulties with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
I have a Cognitive/Behavioral, Solution-Focused treatment philosophy that helps people learn to resolve or learn to cope effectively with life's challenges. In my work with youth, I bring 16+ years of experience working with schools to advocate for my clients and coordinate successful school interventions to augment and support treatment and have strong experience working with complex family situations. I have extensive experience in helping to coordinate care and implement a wrap-around treatment philosophy that addresses all domains of a clients life to build natural and community supports, ensuring long-term, self-sufficient stability. In addition, I have over 10 years of EAP service experience and a strong knowledge of care coordination with Kansas City Metro area psychiatrists, schools, hospitals, and other treatment providers.
While I work well with a broad range of issues, my areas of greatest clinical expertise & experience are with the following:
Childhood and Adolescent Disruptive Disorders, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorders, Mood Disorders in Adults, Children, and Adolescents, including Major Depression and Bipolar Mood Disorders, Adjustment Disorders in Adults and Children, Co-Occurring Autism/PDD spectrum (i.e. Aspergers) and mental health disorders, Anxiety Disorders, including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Phobias and Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Abuse Issues and Trauma, Adult Survivors of Abuse, Personality Disorders, Co-Occurring Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disorders, Mens Issues, including Fathering, & Couples/Marital Counseling.
